ARKPORT, NY / MILLBURY, Ohio - Robert A. "Rob" Yates, of 1447 Vine St., Millbury, Ohio, formerly of Arkport, NY, died Sunday morning (March 8, 2020) at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, following a brief illness.
Born in Hornell on April 10, 1964, he was the son of Gilbert "Gil" and Diane (Nitsche) Yates.
Rob grew up in Arkport and was a graduate of Arkport Central School (class of 1982). He later graduated from Alfred University with a Bachelor's Degree in Ceramic Engineering.
He moved to Glassport, Pa. in 1990 where he was employed at Guardian Industries. He briefly lived in McKeesport, Pa., still working at Guardian Industries.
On May 14, 1994, he was married to the former Rose Nagy. Rob and Rose moved to White Oak, Pa. where he was employed at World Kitchens, a company that manufactured Pyrex Dishes. In 2015 they moved to Ohio where Rob worked as a Furnace & Batch Engineer for Johns Manville Company.
While living in Arkport, Rob was a communicant of St. Ann's Church. He later belonged to St. Angela Church of White Oak, Pa.
Rob enjoyed rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers and also enjoyed fishing at his sister's pond (trying to catch a pike) along with river and stream fishing. He loved attending family functions such as family reunions and "Pond Parties" and weddings, always making an effort to attend no matter where he happened to be living at the time. His laugh was contagious and would usually make everyone in the room join in with laughter!
He loved playing chess with his son, Robbie; playing cards (especially euchre) with his family; and pitching horseshoes at family picnics. Rob had a deep affection for his pets and love feeding birds and listening to them chirp. He also enjoyed gardening - raising tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers.
Rob was a true family man whose greatest joy was simply spending time with his wife, Rose, and attending his son, Robbie and daughter Melissa's functions, such as concerts and Boy Scouts. They were truly his "PRIDE AND JOY".
He was preceded in death by his mother, Diane Yates, who died in 2008; his brother, Gary Yates, who died in 1979; and his brother-in-law, Jim Perry.
Surviving are his wife, Rose Yates of Millbury, Ohio; his son, Robert "Robbie" (Cara Mazurek) Yates of Millbury, Ohio; his daughter, Melissa Yates of Millbury, Ohio; his father, Gilbert "Gil" Yates of Arkport; four sisters, Sharon (Willy) Meinking of Almond, Mindy Perry of Hartsville, Brenda (Randy) Abrams of Bath and Cyndi (Ron) Gula of Ellicott City, MD; two brothers, Daniel (Terry) Yates of Batavia, NY and Michael (Shari) Yates of North Tonawanda, NY; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family of Robert A. "Rob" Yates will receive friends on Friday from 4–7 p.m. at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church with burial in Fremont Cemetery, Fremont, NY.

Bruce Livingston Clark, 58 of Avon beloved husband of Marianne (Landers) Clark, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019, after a two-month courageous battle with HLH, a rare and fatal immune system disorder. Born in Hartford son of David and Janet (Butler) Clark of the Duncaster Retirement Community in Bloomfield, he was raised in West Hartford and lived in Avon since 1992. Bruce attended Renbrook School since the third grade, graduated from the Loomis Chaffee School, and received his BA from Alfred University where he was a champion lacrosse player. A natural athlete Bruce played football and loved wrestling, golf, boating, swimming, downhill skiing, and target shooting, all of which he excelled. When it was time for Bruce to earn a living, he showed great proficiency in cabinet making and the administrative skills he learned at Alfred. He started with a carpenter crew installing cabinets for Village Cabinets in Bristol and became a cabinet designer. Bruce and his father started the Belmont Corporation which manufactured and installed custom cabinetry under the name Village Cabinets in Bristol. He earned a reputation for being a great kitchen designer and top-quality manufacturer as well as an honest businessman as CEO of the Belmont Corporation. At one-point Belmont was one of the largest custom cabinet manufacturers in New England employing over seventy people and has been a family owned business for over 50 years. Bruce will be sorely missed in the builder's supply business. There was no doubt as to the identity of Bruce's favorite avocation- sailing and power boating. He was happy anywhere there was water enough to float a boat, especially if it was in the vicinity of Old Kelsey Point in Westbrook where he spent summers. However, spending time with his family was what he enjoyed most of all. Besides his parents and wife Marianne of 30 years, he leaves his sons Dr. James Thomas Leathem and his wife Dr. Doreen Ng and Dr. Jarrett Michael Leathem and his wife Dr. Ashlee Leathem all of Gilbert AZ; his daughter Samantha Gammie and her husband Judd of West Hartford; three grandchildren Jairico Jarrett Leathem and Jaitter Joseph Leathem, born the day after Bruce died and Jakobe Zenith Bosse Leathem ; a sister Lauren Hutton and her husband Peter of Ipswich, MA; a niece Julia Hutton; his mother-in-law Mary Rose Hurley Landers of Springfield, MA; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. His family will receive friends Friday, September 20, 2019, from 4-8 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. All are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, September 21, 2019, at 10 AM directly at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Fidelis Care, the New York State Catholic Health Plan, announced the death of Mark L. Lane, president and CEO, who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 22, following a brief illness. He was 60.
An experienced and innovative health care executive, Lane oversaw the development of Fidelis Care from its earliest days under the auspices of the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens in 1993. In 1996, he joined Fidelis Care on a full-time basis to lead the company’s expansion from its initial service area of 14 zip codes in Brooklyn to 59 of New York State’s 62 counties.
Today, Fidelis Care is the largest government-programs based health plan in the state, serving more than 780,000 members through an extensive network of over 51,000 providers. Fidelis Care is also a major employer in the state, with more than 1,600 employees based out of four regional and three satellite offices.
Under Lane’s leadership, Fidelis Care experienced rapid and sustained growth in membership, the addition and expansion of new programs and services, and success in the provision of quality care, which he considered to be a hallmark of Fidelis Care’s mission to serve and care for those most in need, with the highest levels of compassion, dignity, and respect: a tenet of the Catholic health care ministry.
Prior to joining Fidelis Care, Lane served as Chief Operating Officer of the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, Inc., which subsequently merged into St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers. He was also the chief operating officer at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, the largest acute care community hospital in northeastern New York.
Lane served as vice president of ambulatory services at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, a leading academic health center in New Brunswick, N.J.
He earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Alfred University and masters’ degrees in business administration and public health from Columbia University.
